I tried to be careful about saying, "according to my friend" instead of making general statements, because you are right, there are always exceptions. However, you brought up many issues similar to the ones I addressed, but you make reference to the source of these issues being from social/political reasons...is that not part of Ugandan culture? When I refer to the "culture" I see it as the essence of many things within a society. I have to agree with many of the statements you have made, but I would also say some of the examples you provided are exceptions, or newly emerging trends rather than situations more commonly experienced. Thanks again for taking the time to share your view!Kristenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04085391029622814311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6025536452853323517.post-58641243308650008612012-07-03T13:41:47.596-07:002012-07-03T13:41:47.596-07:00Wow sister have just read your blog, interesting h...Wow sister have just read your blog, interesting haha but felt like you real adventured the grass root community. Many of your subtopics are realities I see here but May be just a simple word, some subtopics your friends more of told you the traditional way things would be or can be, you need to go deeper ask like how they do them selves haha other wise: Truth is people here marry for love! lets not blanket Ugandans in so. Issue is illiteracy, poverty, some hide into fulfilling a certain religion to get their daughters given away soon as adolescent. Analytically Uganda government and our official norms as a nation is against at times the ways some things are done by some people. You have been just so kind to us but say - due to some vulnerability our precious sisters here get into so called marriages tuned by those things you said just because of luck of self esteem, You're here I know you understand me well anyway. Have seen some girls run away with poor guy they love as we may call it against the so called well off arranged or supported by parents. I say so because Rehabilitation of young people is my work here as you know so have seen many cases, some we have, mean the some girls in this case came into our rescue after run offs from marriages the non LOVE oriented. Want to say such things are not a culture its just weak social phenomenological in some of our community not kind of character to be dressed unto Ugandans or Buganda. Things like kids having sex, kissing also they do some times but not on grounds you know of "just affection to kiss" Other wise its all about morals decay, apart from a certain class of elite community where kids too can kiss with normal intentions since that can be part of them, the other kids like lukaya as you see it if you ever see such just know most cases they learn from films/movies , also on some TV stations most times here the films with even indication that its for above 18year any kid can watch as people most cases have not minded,The single room thing you said is also contributing where it happens be. Other is people here want to be reserved or conservative on such social issues think that lay one a foot in cultural roots but things are changing so rapidly anyway, Lets say to me I see it at a different perspective thanks for being interactive in Uganda. I am enticed to follow you blog more, must be interesting:) Aloy."Smiles of hope"https://www.blogger.com/profile/12395911521680018767noreply@blogger.com
